How are we going to scale interfederation globally, with the pieces we have

MAIN ISSUES DISCUSSED 

  1. How do you get to an SP in another federation, from an IdP in your home federation.
  2. Requirements:
    1. SAML2 (in both federations)
    2. Federations (at A and B)
    3. Bilateral Peering is possible (but you don't want to do that because it doesn't scale)
  3. UK Federation + Edugate interfederation agreement
    1. Easy: Metadata, Attributes, Workflow
    2. Hard: Trust (federation operator processes)
  4. Cheating - because meaningful attributes
  5. HTTP GET doesn't work too bad at the moment.
  6. How large was the HOSTS file before it was too big.
