About the event
Jisc is hosting SIG-PMV at its Jisc Manchester offices on 23/24 October 2018, with the event running from mid-day on the 23rd to mid-day on the 24th, allowing time for presentations and discussion, and some social interaction for those who would like to join a dinner on the Tuesday evening.
Attendance to the event is free, but attendees will need to cover the costs of their own travel and accommodation. Refreshments will be provided, including lunch on both days.
The call for presentations is still open, see https://wiki.geant.org/display/PMV/REGISTRATION+and+CALL+FOR+PRESENTATION
You can also register directly at https://eventr.geant.org/events/2845.
If you have any questions about attending or presenting an idea, please email either pmvsc@lists.geant.org or tim.chown@jisc.ac.uk.
Agenda
The full agenda for the two days will be posted on Friday 12th October.
Travel
The Jisc offices are very close to Manchester Oxford Road railway station, which connects to Manchester Piccadilly (next stop) and Manchester Airport. It's about a 10 minute walk from Piccadilly to the training venue, or 2 minutes from Oxford Road.
The trains from the Airport to Piccadilly (and back) take 15-20 minutes, and run frequently through the day, multiple times per hour. You can check train times at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/. You can buy tickets at a machine at the airport station with a credit card. If you buy a ticket to Manchester Stations you can ride to Manchester Oxford Road station, or you can walk from Piccadilly.
Hotels
The Macdonald Hotel is very close to Piccadilly station, and reasonably priced. It's about half a mile from the Jisc offices venue.

There is also the Jury's Inn hotel, which is relatively cheap and quite close.

If you prefer a very interesting hotel close to Piccadilly station, but a bit pricier, the Adobe Manchester is very good.

Note that Manchester United are playing at home on Tuesday night, so you should book your hotel early, but there should still be plenty of rooms available via TripAdvisor if necessary.
Special Requirements
If you have any special dietary needs, or accessibility requirements, please email tim.chown@jisc.ac.uk.
