Description

All attendees in a Connect meeting have the same view. The same goes for the presenter only area, where hosts and presenters all see the same view. This is good in some cases, because you know what the other attendees see. However, in some situations it could be handy to be able to optionally have private views.

In many cases sharing the same view in meetings is an advantage, but there are some occasions where this is not wanted. As for now there exist some limited possibilities for individual views, e.g., full share screen or not. This is not enough. An option should exist to freely decide what pods to see and for example enlarge them without disturbing the others. We have very good experience of this from many years of using the expert mode in Marratech, where each tool was represented in a separate window.

Some examples:

Even if Connect was designed to be used for desktop conferencing where each attendee sits in front of her computer screen and participates in a meeting, a common usage is where groups of people sit in one room with one computer and one big screen meeting other groups with the same setup. If they are only using audio and video, the video should preferably show the other attendees in a large picture and themselves in a small one. On an other screen a presentation, shared screen, notes, or some other pod could be shown at a big size. This cannot be done without individual views. Adding to this that we could have attendees sitting in front of their desktop screens and they might want to see all videos in equal sizes.

Moreover, the people sitting in the physical meeting rooms might want to participate in the same connect meeting with their laptops. Since the video is shown on a large screen, they don't want to show video on their screen. They might be involved in a discussion in the chat, thus they want the chat pod to be big on their screen, to be able to see  more chats. There could be lots of other pods that they want to see or manage without disturbing the others.

Another thing that would enhance an individual view would be to be able to drag a pod outside the Add-in window and make it contain in its own window. In that way the use of multiple screens will automatically be supported, which more and more people today are using and which exists in many lecture rooms and meeting rooms.

This will also open for Adobe Connect to be a good alternative to expensive video conferencing systems.
