WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
On Thursday 12th July 2012, The European Commission Information Society and Media DG hosted a workshop to present the recommendations to deliver an integrated Authentication, Authorisation and Accounting Infrastructure (AAAI) to help the emergence of a Scientific Data Infrastructure (SDI) aimed to create the conditions to access, share and preserve scientific data.
This workshop was the culmination of a study to explore requirements are for an AAAI, given the new challenges posed by the rise of e-science data and the increasing emphasis on collaboration and the sharing of scientific content. Findings from the study were presented and various experts from within the e-science and research infrastructure providers communities were asked to present their views on the relevance of an AAI to their activities. Feedback received during the workshop will be considered in recommendations in the final report.
The final report will be submitted to the European Commission in September 2012 and will be used to inform the work of Horizon 2020.
Participants at the workshop included stakeholder representatives from National Research & Educational Networks (NRENs), research infrastructures, libraries, data centres, and e-science community.
