The Incubator team has a number of tools available for collaborating on the activities

A number of email lists are provided by GEANT for all participants in the project and the team(s).

Activity specific email list(s)
List address | Members | Purpose |
---|---|---|
tbd | Activity specific members of the T&I incubator | A list for all participants of a specific activity of the T&I Incubator |
How to join
You will be invited into the list by one of the scrum masters (Jule or Michael) at the start of the activity
Video Conferencing
For all formal VCs in the Trust and Identity Incubator we will use ZOOM
You can download a desktop client for your system (including mobile platforms and Linux based) at https://zoom.us/download,
join trough a compatible browser directly, or use a SIP or H323 client. The latter two may not provide all features though.
How to join
Meeting details will be provided trough email. You may need to register an account at Zoom (https://zoom.us/signup) to use the desktop client.
Incubator Wiki
The GEANT wiki is used as the central place for our team to collaborate. The Incubator has it's own spot, T2 - Trust and Identity Incubator space. All Team members (should have) have read/write capabilities on this space. To write into the wiki you need to authenticate at the wiki using a registered identity of you home institution. Currently you can only be added to team if you have logged in once.
Please do not store any personal data, project sensitive data or operational secrets in the public sections of this wiki.
How to join
To get access to the Incubator wiki, you need to login to the wiki using your home institution identity provider. n addition you need to be a member of the T&I Incubator group. If you can read this page, but you have no access to the Incubator Internals, you are not yet in that team. Please contact Niels to get that fixed.
Slack
As a real time communications tool, we use Slack. You can use Slack either with a desktop or mobile client (https://slack.com/downloads) or trough a web browser. The Incubator Slack space is: https://gntiincubator.slack.com/
For activities within the Incubator, we will create separate channels.
How to join
To use Slack please create an account here: https://slack.com/get-started, then add your Slack id at the Team members page so we can add you to the team.
Trello
In the incubator we work in an agile way. To support the sprints in an activity, we use Trello to keep track of the activity backlog, assign work items to participants and review progress.
The Incubator project in Trello can be found here: https://trello.com/tiincubator
Each activity in the Incubator will have its own trello bord in this project. For simplicity, all team members will be given access to all the all the boards. You need to have an account at trello, as well as be a member of the correct group to have access to the Incubator trello project.
How to join
Create an account at Trello: https://trello.com/signup?returnUrl=%2F
As soon as you have done so, please provide your Trello id at the Team members page so we can add you to the team.
Github and Incubator Gitlab
For storing source code we may use both public as well as private repositories. In principle all our work should be publicly available, and as such you may use a public Github (https://www.github.com) repository.
The Incubator has its own organization which we can use to store repositories under, see https://github.com/GN43-TI-Incubator
If you are putting newly created code on GitHub, be sure to include the appropriate copyright notice as well as an appropriate license.
In case you need to store sensitive data, like e.g. operational secrets, please request a private GEANT Gitlab from the Incubator (https://gitlab.geant.org/TI_Incubator) repository from the activity scrum master.
How to join
To use GitHub.com you need to create an account at https://github.com/join?source=header-home. Please also upload a SSH public key and it is strongly recommended to enable second factor authentication
Once you have done that, please add you GitHub id at the Team members page so we can add you to the team that has access to https://github.com/GN43-TI-Incubator.
To use the GEANT Gitlab, please login to the Gitlab instance once, by going to https://gitlab.geant.org/users/sign_in. Please pin Niels after that so you can be added to the corrcet team.
Avatar
Given that we have a number of different tools, where people also may have different identities, it may be a little hard to quickly see who is involved in a team or discussion. If possible please therefor ad the same avatar to all the above tools. This way your fellow teammates can quickly spot that it was you who made that brilliant remark!
Avatars are typically added as part of you profile.
