Any young candidate nominated by a GÉANT Project NREN partner registered at a university or college in a GÉANT partner country or working in the NREN community.
We accept max 1 candidates per NREN.
Ideal candidates are (under) graduate, master and PhD students who want to commit time and energy to learn and develop themselves beyond the basic university programme.
The Trust & Identity Incubator offers trainees practical topics in different work areas that are being announced before each new print. The topics for the next sprint can be found in TIM TOPICS 2019.
Motivation is everything! Both for the student and for the hosting NREN. A six months' professional internship should not be underestimated and requires time and dedication and interest from all parties involved. That is exactly what the TIM selection committee will be looking for. We advise hosting NRENs to be selective when nomination potential candidates. After a positive review, the T&I selection Committee ( consisting of 3 community members: Ann Harding, NIels van Dijk , Irina Mikhailava) will invite the hosting NREN together with their young professional for an interview to complete the recruitment. The recruitment process closes on 15th October. This should give you sufficient time to make necessary arrangements involved with hiring an intern.
A complete application includes a motivation letter of the hosting NREN and candidate's motivation letter and CV. This can be emailed to glad@geant.org. The application can be submitted until 15 October 2019.
The programme runs in two cycles of 6 months parallel to the T&I incubation sprints. Dates and running times can be found from here: TIM Programme
Trainees are eligle for training and workshops that will support their work in the GEANT project at the discretion of the hosting NREN. Trainees who will be presenting work at formal big events take mandatory presentation and public speaking workshops in order to maximize impact of the work
Your role as a mentor is to engage with your trainee on a regular basis, provide encouragement and advice during the programme and attend related events. If your trainee is selected to speak at any event, we encourage you to support him or her at the event. Travel cost for mentors can be funded. Trainees' travel and accommodation to meetings and events is funded by the programme and can be reclaimed from GN4.3-WP1-T5 following the normal GÉANT project claimant rules and procedures.
